Tanuj Edward

Tanuj Edward, Managing Director and CEO, counts over 32 years of professional experience in the insurance industry and held many Senior Management positions in Sri Lanka and overseas. He is a Chartered Insurer and Associate Member of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London and a Senior Associate of Australian and New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance.

Throughout his illustrious career holding key positions in the insurance industry of Sri Lanka and overseas, Tanuj has been the recipient of multiple accolades and recognition awards for his services. His very latest sprint was bagging the special award of recognition “Al-Futtaim Values Award” the most prestigious recognition awarded by the group.  His achievement thus went beyond his own halo and garnered recognition to Sri Lanka in a global forum.

Tanuj Commenced his insurance career at Union Assurance Limited in 1990, thereafter he joined Norwich Union, and returned back to Sri Lanka to Join Eagle Insurance and was part of Eagle Star, Zurich, AVIVA and AIA, thereafter he Joined Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company (ADNIC) to gain exposure in Marine Hull, Aviation and Energy, after a successful learning there he returned to Sri Lanka to Join AIA General Insurance and continued in the capacities of Chief Operating Officer, and Deputy CEO of AIA General Insurance limited.

He is also the Secretary of IASL (Insurance Association of Sri Lanka) and a member of the Insurance Sub Committee of ICC (International Chamber of Commerce).

Ameera Hindurangala

Ameera has been a dynamic force at Orient Insurance since 2016. He initially took the helm of Motor Operations and, through his visionary leadership, expanded his purview to include Non-Motor, Reinsurance and Branding operations by 2023. With over two decades of industry experience, Ameera’s strategic insights have driven significant business process enhancements, consistently propelling our company’s success.

His academic prowess complements his professional journey, holding a BA (Hons.) in Business Management from 2013 and an MBA from Cardiff Metropolitan University, earned in 2018. Ameera’s blend of hands-on expertise and academic excellence makes him an invaluable asset to our team, ensuring that we navigate the complexities of the insurance landscape with confidence and innovation.

Senior Vice President - Operations Control, Risk and Compliance

Pasindu Abeygunawardana

Pasindu joins Orient Insurance in March 2016 bringing in more than 16 years of Industry expertise and experience. With continued strategic outstanding performance in finetuning and further enhancing policies and procedures in business acumen and in 2023 Pasindu is absorbed into the Executive Committee or Orient Insurance.

Pasindu is a full rounded member academically qualifying himself into the Associates of Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (ACMA), Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA). He also possesses a Master of Business Administration from the University of Sri Jayawardanapura.

Senior Vice President – Finance

Rihab Thaha

Rihab possesses 30 years of both Local and international experience and brings in a wealth of knowledge having worked also for Orient Insurance PJSC, UAE, joining the company as the Senior Vice President – Finance and IT as well as have taken over duties in the capacity of the Company Secretary since December 2019.

Through the years of Rihab’s career, he has progressed academically, achieving the status of a qualified Chartered Management Accountant. He also obtained the Certificate in Insurance (Cert CII) of the Chartered Insurance Institute, London. He has completed a training program on Reinsurance accounting and electronic Reinsurance accounting conducted by Swiss Re Academy in Zurich.  During the earlier part of his career, he has obtained certification for the completion of the ‘Young Managers Program’ at National University of Singapore.

He is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) in the United Kingdom and the Chartered Global Management Accountants (CGMA).

Rochana brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Sales division at Orient Insurance. Joining the team in 2019, Rochana has quickly established himself as a key player in the industry. With a robust background that spans finance, underwriting, and sales, he boasts over 20 years of comprehensive industry experience.

His diverse skill set and in-depth knowledge make him an invaluable asset to the Orient Insurance family, driving growth and success through his strategic insights and leadership.
